Relife Work From Ages


The Sangha’s first disaster relief project can be traced to 1919 with East Bengal Cyclone, 1923 with the Bengal Famine. Through the last 89 years the Sangha has responded to natural calamities such as the West Bengal Floods (1978, 1998, and 2001), Bhopal Gas Tragedy (1980), Cyclone in Andhra Pradesh (1996), and Super cyclone in Odisha (1999), Bhuj earthquake (2001), Tsunami in A & N Island and Tamilnadu in 2004, Mumbai & Gujarat Flash Flood (2005). Aila, Laila Flood relief in Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Assam and Bulbul affected relief are recent work besides Flash Flood at Kedarnath in Uttarakhand in 2013 and Jammu and Kashmir Flash Flood in 2014.

With whatever resources are avilable with us, we stood with the people during Covid-19 pandemic by the Barajuri branch of Bharat Sevashram Sangha. We have distributed foodgrains and other essential foodstaff and cloths to the needy tribal, primitive tribal (PTGs) and other needy people at different locations – Barajuri, Bhadua, Chandutola, Dainmari, Basadera, Gandhania Hat Maidan. In Ghatsila – Dhoradih, Panitanki, Mou Bhandar (Babu Para), Bombay Chowk (Dhalbhumgarh Block) etc based on our survey last year.

The deadly Corona pandemic has struck us again with its second wave. We need to support people at this time of national crisis. As such, we have started distribution of Facemasks, Sanitisers, Pulse Oximetres, IR Thermometres, Vitamic C tablets, Zinc tablets, Soaps etc. for free distribution among them at Banbera, Chandutola, Jhati Jharna, Haludbani, Dainmari, Rajabasa, Basadera, Bhadua, Kanimohali, Kendopushi, Darisai Sabar Basti (Kharia Colony) in May 2021.

Apart from this, we have again distributed food hampers and vegetables to 20 autorickshaw drivers at Fuldungri, Ghatsila in June 2021.
